Original pegged-oak hardwood floors and hand-painted coffered ceiling will catch your eye! Notice four large stars in the center of the ceiling. They represent William, his wife Ada, and their children Dorothy & Philip.The star motif is a recurring theme throughout the Mansion. The English lion honors William’s English heritage, and the fluer de lis is for Ada’s French heritage.
The room takes advantage of amazing views and the great weather—it was built withdoors on all three sides, once leading to outdoor patios. The two light fixtures on either side of the fireplace are original and used to be in theRotunda.The Steinway Duo Art Player PianoIt was custom made for the Wrigleys in 1929by Steinway himself.
It’s believed that the musical prodigy Władziu Valentino Liberace offered Mr. Wrigley a blank check for the piano, to which William replied, “The piano stays with the house.” The concertola holds 10 scrolls of music and was connected to the piano electronically via the remote control.
Music scrolls include George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” which was recorded by Gershwin himself!
